"Atlanta Security Analysis Consultation After Break In Attempt"I just came back from a security analysis walk thru of a nice family that had an attempted break in. I walked around their home and made these observations & recommendations: 1-Three nice vehicles in the driveway. Do you know why they were not in the garage? It was filled with junk! 2. If you are not going to keep your car in the garage...then at least take the garage door opener in the house with you at night time. I found the garage door opener in the car witha window open...easy for all to see...and take. 3- Keep your garage closed. Why do people insist on keeping the door open? Is it to show off all of the fancy gadgets they have like tools, lawn mowers & bikes? Stop advertising that you are open for business! 4- I found a $2,000 lawn mower parked on the side of the house within easy view of the street. I call this "Free Advertising" it sends the message , "Hey look what we got! Can you imagine what we have inside...come on in & see for yourself" 5- Overgrown bushes that are way to close to the house. They were completely blocking 2 windows and were a perfect set up for an attempted break in. The burglar could completely hide himself behind these 5 ft tall bushes! This isn't rocket science is it? I wonder how many of these security recommendations will actually be addressed by the home owner. I guess it comes down to this: No one likes to change. Our biggest obstacle is ourselves. Isn't it true? How easy to say..."Well thats how we have always done it". Lets hope they stop doing it that way before the next attempted break in happens.
